On 2 August 2025, as Mamut 2018’s MBA and SilverHoops basketball camps kicked off, coaches and sports staff gathered at Hotel Srebrno Jezero for a DIASPORTCAMP diabetes‐management workshop. Supported by Erasmus+ Sport funding from the European Union, the two‐hour session—led by Project Coordinator Saša Ćirić and Plavi Krug diabetes and nutrition specialist Jovana Živić—brought key online lessons into a live setting.
Participants learned hands‐on skills: how to perform quick blood‐glucose checks before and after drills, recognise early warning signs of low or high sugar levels on the court, and adjust warm‐up and cool‐down routines to keep athletes safe. The live demonstrations made the project’s EMCA Studia e‐learning modules much clearer and more practical.
During an open discussion, coaches asked about applying for future Erasmus+ Sport grants and how other clubs have used EU co-funding to improve inclusion. Saša Ćirić explained the simple steps to join Small‐Scale Partnership calls and encouraged teams to explore mobility and capacity‐building opportunities within Erasmus+.
Feedback collected anonymously showed high satisfaction, with coaches feeling ready to support every young player, regardless of their diabetes. With these new skills and a clear understanding of EU backing, the MBA and SilverHoops camps are set to deliver a truly inclusive, diabetes‐friendly experience.
