DIASPORTCAMP, a 12-month initiative launched on 1 November 2024 and co-funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ Sport programme, has reached formal completion.
The project’s final meeting brought together consortium partners — Mamut 2018 (Coordinator), HAŠK Mladost and MP Sport — to review outcomes, share lessons learned and confirm a pathway for follow-up activities.
Over the pilot year DIASPORTCAMP produced a practical online course on EMCA Studia and tested blended delivery through an in-person workshop at Mamut 2018’s summer camps. The pilot reached a large youth audience (1,700 participants aged 8–18 across eight eight-day shifts) and engaged 130 coaches; 11 young athletes with diabetes were included in camp activities under strengthened safety protocols. Participant and coach feedback was overwhelmingly positive (anonymous workshop rating: 4.90 / 5).
Key achievements highlighted during the final meeting include: publication of DIASPORTCAMP training materials on EMCA Studia (https://studia.multisportclubs.eu/…), successful delivery of the in-person reinforcement workshop (2 Aug 2025), robust partner coordination across planning and delivery phases, and the collection of pilot data that will inform future replication. Partners also agreed on two immediate follow-up tasks: short coach follow-up surveys to measure medium-term practice uptake and a public dissemination package to share pilot lessons widely.
The consortium thanks the European Union for Erasmus+ co-funding and extends gratitude to Plavi Krug for clinical contribution during the camp. Building on pilot success, the partners are committed to the next ambition: organising three diabetes-friendly basketball camps across different countries to scale impact and foster safer, more inclusive youth sport environments.
